The construction of the Altun-alem Mosque dates from between 1516 and 1528. The founder is Muslihedin Abdul
Gani, known as Muezzin mullahs Al Madinah. The fact that he is the founder is confirmed by an endowment
charter. The base of the mosque is a single-space domed building with double-bay porch topped by two domes.
This type of mosque is not typical for our region, but the influence is transmitted from Ottoman centres
like Edirne and Istanbul. The Altun-alem Mosque has been declared a monument of exceptional importance.
