The Novi Pazar Fortress is a medieval Turkish fort, built by Isa-bey Isahović in the 15th century when the city itself was established. It is located in the city centre, on the right bank of the Raška River, likewise covering the area of the city park. The fortification consists of three angular tabjias – bastions and a tower known as the Stara izvidnica (Reconnaissance Tower), or Kula Motrilja (Watchtower) located between the northern and western bastion. The watchtower and northern bastion were connected by a stone wall representing the only visible remnant of this kind of defensive walls.
